Lightbulb Why the T-Mo 8800 was pulled

Please Login to Remove!

So, T-Mo has pulled the 8800 from the shelves. Heard this from BGR or BBCool, confirmed with a CSR by phone. WHY?

TMO claims it was a backordering issue. That sounds weak to me. Jibi had some inside info on an 83x0 or 88x0 dropping some time this year. They're clearing the stock to get ready for the new device? That makes more sense than the ATT 8820 announcement since they're still selling the old model. Silly timing if they're not ready to release.

I don't think there were enough TMo 8800 technical issues to pull the line - though it was overpriced at $350 compared to VZW and ATT.

What gives?

Once again, TMO is very behind on everything. If this true, they really need to get their game straight and pull out the 8800 from their website. As of now, the 8800 is still considered avail via their site. I am trying to be patient but TMO is really falling apart on customer communication!

I agree. They have a pretty weak selection of phones, too. It seems like AT&T gets all the new BlackBerries first. I don't mind waiting a little longer as kinks can get worked out but I mean dang!

it looks like AT&T is the equivalent heavyweight to Verizon, but on the GSM/SIM Card phone side.

i'll sit back in the tmo isle and eat popcorn while i watch the 2 slug it out....

well i have my 8800 i aslo identified a bad shipment at the QDI warehouse. that had to get pulled. but w aweek ago ig got my 8800 from a buddy of min whis a GM for an indirect dealer. I already have the phone unlocked. the pull is possablec aus of the 8320
the 8820 should be out for tmo lat august or early sept. sept also makes the date of the 8120as well. also tmo is curently beta testing UMTS and hsdpa on their net. I got this info while talking to a corprate store manager getting rates for enterprise plans as my company will probably switch carriers in OCT.
I can wait.

We've been getting 4-5 of them each time and already received 10 in total. I didn't know they're already dropping this model...it'll just be another reason for those sr execs to ask for new phones. Which won't be bad then I can upgrade my 8700 to their 8800.

I jus saw an article in ComputerWorld yesterday about the new 8820.

It is my understanding from my NAR that the 8320 will be released in late September early October. As for as the 8820, if Cingular has an exclusive the earliest the BB will be on TMO is November.

I love tmo service and thier reps, but they are getting there BUTS kicked and have done so for a while now and it seems they are doing nothing about it. While at&t is coming out with a new device every month tmo comes out with crap. I wonder if the old rumor is true and they might be selling tmo USA.

Hmmm the 8800 is still on the website? Doesn't look like they pulled it off the shelves to me.

And I would too agree, T-Mobile is kinda on a downhill. Well not really but in terms latest phones. It might be different if I wasn't a blackberry user, but when I take a look at their regular phones, they all seem lacking compared to everything else. What gives? At this point, it seems like are their super local customers are the one staying and their not really doing much to attrach new customers. But thats what I love about them, they take care of their existing customers.

But I was disappointed the other day when my easy pay payment (automatic monthly bill payment) didn't go through. I had to call in and ask what was wrong and they told me I should make a "manual" payment. So I said sure, here's my credit car, and the rep informed me that its a $5 fee to have a rep process your payment. I was like WTF?!? When did this happen. And she told me to just use the automated system, it won't cost anything.

I was really bugged by this even though it doesn't really effect me anymore, but before had had easy pay set up, I used to call in and hit 0 until I got a rep to pay my bills, I couldn't stand automated systems.
