Default Buggy 9700??

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone else having these issues? I'm hoping it just needs an update from RIM to fix.

1) The trackpad freezes up about 3 times a day. Normally if I just wait 5 minutes it will work again. I can click with it, but not scroll up/down/left/right.

2) Whenever I try and view a message it always opens the message below it.
If I get a new message (SMS/Email/BBM) and I click the message to view, it opens the message below it. Even if it has already been viewed. Hope that made sense..

3) When in the message folder you have to open a message to reply. I'm pretty sure on the bold you could just scroll to the message and hit the "R" button to reply.

Any of these sound familiar?

9700 on ATT running v5.0.296 (Platform 5.1.83)

Thx.

I'm certainly no expert, having owned by 9700 for only a few weeks. 1. and 2. sound related to me. Like a software conflict perhaps? Are you running any resident programs, like MySpace? Has it always behaved like this, or start recently (after an update or new app install)? I recall days when the track ball on my 8310 would lag after I spun down to a message, and it might roll down and then click the wrong message. No issues yet with my 9700 track pad however. You did a good battery yank?

I have done hard and soft resets. The trackpad started sticking 2 weeks after I got it. The only ap I have every downloaded is google maps and am sure to "quit" the application after using it to help with battery life. So I don't think it's a software conflict.

I can call ATT and get a new phone, but wanted to make sure these weren't common issues that I'm dealing with.

I was having the same problems you described...but mine would freeze up for about 15 min... I went back to tmobile and exchanged it out for a new one a few days ago...it started doing the same thing right out of the box.. :/

I've been having strange unresponsive trackpad issues recently as well. Can't quite put my finger on what is wrong (um... no pun intended).

on 423, you can hit R or L to reply without opening the message.

You can hit R and L to reply with .405 too, just not with SMS messages for some odd reason.

I too have weird trackpad issues. Sometimes the trackpad won't seem to respond to me touching it at all. HOWEVER, if I click the trackpad and THEN attempt to move around the screen it works -- VERY strange.

I did not notice this until after I upgraded to .405 on ATT.

I've not had the issues you describe with the trackpad; I'd recommend that you keep returning it until you get one that functions prpoerly.

I rarely use SMS so I can't speak to the reply issue, but as soon as I get a text I'll test it out; I am running .421.

I had this. Last night I did the OS upgrade to the latest official release (link at the top of this forum) and it has fixed it. I am so pleased
