RIM just updated all their IM clients to v. 2.1.42

While Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger work fine after the update, Google Talk went bust with an error message that I had provided the incorrect password.

I am able to log into the service with my desktop client though. I even tried completely un-installing the app, doing a battery pull and re-installing the app again, but nada .. Does not work.

I would like to know if anybody else is facing this problem. Also would like some help on rolling back to the previous version, if that is an option.

Ok .. I have an update. On a whim, I unchecked the "Remember my Password" option and tried to key in my password (this time taking care to ensure that pressed the "alt" key for the symbols) and it worked. It seems that for the password, you would require the "alt" key to be pressed for the $ symbol.

Anyways, that brought me to my new problem. When I try to save the new password, it seem to be reverting back to the old password and I have the old problem again. Unchecking the "Save Password" option leaves me all fine.

Where does Google Talk (or for that matter, any other application) store "rememberd passwords"? Is there any way, I can make the device forget the stored ones and get it to remember a new one ?

Further update -- a battery pull and a fresh re-entry of username and password resolved this. I am all set now.

had the same problem, and yes the re-entering of username and password does validate your account, but, if you sign out, and sometimes (i'm not saying all the time), when you try to sign back in you have to AGAIN re-enter your details. me thinks this is a stupid glitch. btw is this synced with google maps (the latitude one)?

I didn't update to the latest version and yesterday found that I could no longer login (had the same error about username and password not matching). Logging in on my Desktop is fine. I updated the BB GoogleTalk client to see if that fixed the problem but I am still unable to login using my usual login username and password, which I haven't changed.
