Default Verzion blocking web access?

Hi

We have had several users suddenly find our app txtForward stop working in the last week. It appears our users can no longer browse to the web site - txtForward: Automatically Forward SMS text messages from Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile to email or txtForward: Automatically Forward SMS text messages from Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile to email .Anyone know of similar problems or if Verizon is implementing "whitelisting" or blacklisting web sites?

I just tried and was able to get to the txtforward.com using Opera Mini from my VZW device. However, using the BB browser, I cannot get there--the status bar site on "Waiting..." then times out. Looks like some kind of block may be in place.

Hmm I never knew of a carrier blocking. If you can get from Opera then its not the carrier since you are still using the same network

thanks for folks testing this out for us. We're based in the UK so its really useful having some help on the ground in the US. It looks like Verizon are blocking the Blackberry useragent accessing txtForward: Automatically Forward SMS text messages from Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile to email - people have reported being able to browse with Opera or by setting the UA to IE on the BB. We suspect we might need Verizon to whitelist the txtForward service - e.g. they are treating it as an SMTP email service - see here:-

Well - that doesn't look like its the problem :( . Anyone any other ideas?

It appears txtforward.com was getting too many hits from Blackberry users. We will have to migrate it to a bigger dedicated server. In the meantime the solution is to select the "Forward direct from phone" option in txtForward which doesnt use our servers.

Default txtForward back online

Hi,

The txtForward server is back on line and working fine. So you can now forward via the EP Service (so that gmail forward to same gmail account works ok) or "direct from phone" using your own email client.
