And what is that problem?

Check that the normal Buetooth settings are enabled first. Options > Bluetooth.

As an icon on your homescreen. Check to make sure that it is not hidden, Menu > Show all.

my device has become slower after upgrading in terms of response time from some of the apps like messages opening/closing/answering phone calls, etc

Also it freezes once in a while for a few seconds sometimes.

BB Maps dont work properly, the map displays is never smooth and takes forever to render.

I tried making a phone call with maps running and I got a error message about not enough memory.

I am assuming all these issues are due to less memory/processing power.

Is everyone else experiencing similar issues or it's just me?

How much is this less than any other past firmware versions?

I don't have any 3rd party apps installed.

Default Missing Icon(s)

I just upgraded my 8800's OS last night and spent some time redoing some of the settings and just 'exploring' the new features. One thing that I noticed is that I no longer have the icon on my home screen for device options. I thought it might be something in the theme setting, but I can't change themes. It's also not a hidden icon, I checked Is anyone else having this issue or know of a fix? Thanks!

The placement of the options icon is a theme settings, some put it in a settings folder, some do not.

JSanders, I am running the same theme that I had when I had the previous OS. Also, without that options icon, I have no clue how to go about getting into theme settings to change them or the theme itself... I'm a bit of a n00b to BBs/the 8800 even with the experience I gained with my old 7290 lol

Thanks for the response though!

It may have the same name but it's not the same theme. They add/remove things from them all the time. If it's not there it won't ever be there. it has to be coded into the theme.

John Clark, thanks for the info about the coding and whatnot. Just leaves me stymied on how to get to all that information/settings now. N685EH is just what N-number I would put on an airplane if I were to buy one... maybe one day once the industry stabilizes and I'm done paying off student loans (when I'm 80 lol). The plane in my avatar is a newer Piper Warrior with dual Garmin 430s and the Avidyne FlightMax Entegra PFD/MFD. I did instrument training and a bit of XC time in them a while back. Are you a pilot as well?

After rereading your post I realize you're looking for the Options icon (I was thinking something else.) What theme are you using? Usually the Options icon is a wrench icon but changes with the theme being used. You can get to Options by using shortcut keys. Go into the Phone app. Then hit menu and go to General Options. Scroll down to "Dial from home screen" and set it to "No." Then go back to the home screen and press "O" (for Options.) That will take you to Options. I'm not sure why that Options icon is hiding from you.

Yes, I'm a pilot. I'm a pilot for a large, Part 91 corporate flight department, flying the G200 (Galaxy) and the G100 (Astra)

John Clark, I've been using BB Dimension Zen. Now that I can get to the options, I'll probably either change the theme to something else or trying resetting DimZen back to default and seeing if it magically appears after that. Sounds like I might just have to get used to something else aside from how exactly I had it set up before, which I can get over.

I took my mom who doesn't like to fly all TOO much on a NJA G200 training flight last year - she did well until she noticed just how much the wing flexes Nice airplanes though, for sure. If you guys ever find a loophole in insurance requirements and can hire a 310TT/20ME pilot, let me know ASAP! lol

EDIT- Resetting the theme back to its default settings made the icon reappear on the home screen... go figure! I'm happy now though. Thanks again for the help though! If you ever want to talk flying, PM or PIN me.

It does work, you will need to post more detail about the error you are having.

Are you using Vista? If so, try right clicking on the .exe file and select "run as administrator."

You need the OS for the 8830, not the 8800.

There is no official release of 4.5 for the 8830. Google may help.
