Has anyone worked with WIC software where you build pin number list. We have bes 4.05 running exchange system manager 2003? Windwos Server 2003.

Yes i have, was not a fan, difficult to manager if users frequently upgrade devices, break, replace, etc... also assuming that it is being used w/ out the users knowledge they may be prompted w/ 3rd party app pop-ups to access via HTTP: from the device, Once we stopped using the app (after we upgraded the BES to 4.1.3, which keep pin/sms logs for you like WIC) We had issues that this application still installed on 90% of my BB's (approx 400 units) was draining the battery trying to access a server that no longer existed.

How does the pin/sms logs work on Bes 4.13. Can they easily be exported to distribute to users or create groups for the users?

They're written to a flat file in \program files\RIM\BES\logs as SMS_Log_BESNAME_YYYYMMDD.txt
[may not be exact as from memory but good enough for you to find it]

it's not really designed for user analysis - it's more for SOX / HR enforcement.

For a tool to facilitate analysis - check out GWAVA - BlackBerry Enterprise Server Security Solutions :: GWAVA :: BlackBerry Enterprise Server Auditing :: BlackBerry Enterprise Server Archiving :: BlackBerry Enterprise Server archive :: BlackBerry Enterprise Server surveillance :: BlackBerry Ent they were at WES in may and it looked pretty neat, provided you had the real business need for that kind of tool.

FWIW, GWAVA did not have the application ready a couple months after WES. I was under the impression that it was ready to be shipped. They never contacted me back after I initially contacted them (twice).

...it still doesn't look like they've brought that application to market. It's a wonderful tool, although it's simply a database importer and retention-holder for the BES log files with a nifty little interface that allows you to search and manage/audit the messages. Definitely a great idea for a tool for legal departments in the United States.
