Hi !

I am setting up a new BES 4.1.6 , Lotus Domino 7.02.
I cant find hardwarerequirements for this, only for Exchange.
Can someone help ?
Also interresting would be Hardwarerequirements für BES 5.0 and Lotus Domino to have the proper hardware for future upgrades.

The requirements really aren't that huge, actually. Assuming Windows 2003, and if you're planning on running BES 5.0, give the machine at least 2gig of RAM for the Domino messaging and BES components. I'd also allocate at least 20gig of disk space. Your basic server-grade hardware is going to have that.

I would double the memory and disk space for Server 2008, but Domino 7.0.2 isn't supported on Windows 2k8.

I placed Domino first as I like it better than Exchange.

I am running mine on a VM that has 1 CPU (2.8gz Xeon E5440), 2GB of RAM, 15GB of HD, and Win 2k3.

Memory usage says around 80%. Keep in mind this is with the database on an SQL server and not local.

Since RAM is cheaper than it used to be, just get 4 GIG.

IIRC BES like to have 4 GIG when on 64 bit OS with domino, there will be less disk caching involved.

BES and Domino like to have plenty of memory available to them. 4GiB is quite cheap, that would be my baseline today. Faster processors and more processors just make the BES and Domino slightly more responsive in processing tasks. There are also disk subsystem minimums you will want. Both the users and I noticed the BES push/reconcile changes slightly slower when I tried SATA disks versus SAS (or SCSI). The local console of the BES was also slightly sluggish locally when using SATA versus 10k SAS. (this was with Domino 6.5.6FP1, Windows Server 2003 Standard x86, BES 4.1.4, local MSDE database, and about 35 BlackBerry usings on a dedicated BES). 2GiB (or 1.5GiB) is about the minimum memory you would want. However with 4GiB being so cheap today, that would be the minimum I would use.
