Question BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express address book transfer

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I'm a new BES Express administrator; I have it installed on a server running W2K8 with Exchange 2007 SP2. My setup went great and 2 of my users are more or less ready to go.

One user (very high up in the organization), has requested that the global address book in Exchange, be not synced when carrying out enterprise activation. In other words, she wants her BB address book to not sync with her Exchange address book. I've looked into the user guides, and perhaps I missed it, but I was unable to find a way to do this.

Does anyone know how to prevent the address book from syncing?

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks!

try this - create a new IT policy for the user and disable AB synch (under PIM Synchronization)

BES Express may not support all policies, I'd suggest loading the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and set the sync preferences up there.

Thumbs up

Thank you for the responses so far! As SBeau said, however, BES Express, does not appear to have the option suggested by BBExpert. If I'm wrong, please feel free to point it out.

Would changing BB Desktop Manager settings affect the wireless sync that happens with Enterprise Server? I'll dig around and play with it, but it'd be great if anyone knew any more specifics with it...

You can also go into the Address Book Options on your Blackberry smartphone and set Wireless Synchronization to "No"

If you want to set that on the server, go to the specific user, click on Default Configuration. Click on the "Organizer Data Sychronisation" tab. Click "Edit User". Under the "Address Book" heading, set "Synchronization turned on" to "No".
