as a former waiter and bartender for over 10 years, i cant tell you how much i hated people that pulled out the "tip card" and started sliding away.. with their little reading glasses and the pocket light so they could read.. was my service that questionable that you need to make sure its 15% and not 16.5%?
or, you could stop being a cheap ass and just tip what you know is fair... how hard is it to figure out 15 to 20%? you can always ask the waiter or waitress to add on the 15% so you dont have to figure it out.
my grandmother has a tip calculator, maybe shell give it to you when she dies..
(im not bitter about restraunt work.. really ;))

this is going to piss a lot of people off but i don't really care...i'm going to say it anyways
...
it's funny about people in the service industry and your pet peeves about tipping...you should be happy you're even getting a tip IMHO...there are many jobs that require a lot harder work than yours does and they do not and/or cannot receive a tip...so be happy when people pull out that sliding calculator or BB to calculate tip money you shouldn't even be getting in the first place...
but just to make things clear, i always tip the recommended 15%, even if i don't agree with it, because some people's lives do depend on it, even though it shouldn't
