Package Version: 4.5.0.108
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.81
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.78
  • File name: 8320M_PBr4.5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81_Rogers. exe
  • File size: 77.27MB

Download Link for Rogers MultiLanguage Version: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C068A355BBA31A

(If you desire East Asian languages, download this same OS here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...languages.html

Instructions for installing on ANY 8320 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Prev. version of OS: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...languages.html

Umm...is it me entering a state of Deja Moo or is the version number and application number the same as the one that has been out for a week or so from Australia?
Is it an updated post due to the multilanguage or something?

(hint: the initial post points to both the English + East Asian version, and the Multilanguage versions of the OS)

JSanders, don't scare me like that! I was wondering where in Sam Hill the couple hundred posts for the 8320 4.5.0.108/4.5.0.81 went! :P

One thing I noticed about this build is the stability. I am running with 6mb free and would not have known if I did check. It appears to be the most solid build yet.

I'm using the version from Australia, and there's still a memory leak. But a lot of the problems I was experiencing with earlier builds seem to have gone away. Specifically, the "EDGE" indicator stays at "EDGE" instead of "edge" or "GSM" at random intervals. The memory leak isn't nearly as bad. My phone doesn't drop calls left and right like it did.

All in all, good. I'm unsure if it's worth updating to the Rogers version from the Australian one.

I have an 8320 from T-mobile USA.

Isn't the Rogers and Australian versions the exact OS's? Why upgrade...

You would regret not upgrading.

I am presuming that you downloaded the file, double clicked it and ran the executable. Then, followed the instructions in the first post.

You deleted the vendor.xml file and then ran Desktop Manager with your Curve 8320 attached.
After it syncs, it will take a few seconds, but it should give you the option to upgrade your OS.

yes, i deleted vendor.xml and it replaced it with one dated 09/16/08. i did a repair, so no i have a white screen with two phones (i guess) on it. still no option to upgrade. when i run the apploader manually, should i browse to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader?

thanks

No...you don't replace the vendor.xml...you only delete it.
The vendor.xml file tells the program what phone it should be working on. Delete the vendor.xml file and it will work on any Curve 8320 from any carrier.
