Default Curve Holsters

Please Login to Remove!

I'm brand new to BB Forums, and I'm very close to upgrading to the BB Curve.

For several years, I've been used to a Sanyo flip phone and a plastic, swivel holster on my belt. I'd be very interested in learning what plastic swivel holsters are working best with the Curve.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am using the orignal BB leather holster. It is well worth it.

I use a Seidio that I picked up at the Verizon Wireless store. Is plastic and swivels and clips nicely. Has a nice felt interior too.

+1

Don't get the leather case from TMobile if you're going to put a skin on it, as it will leave a reddish-brown stain on the skin.

I really like the Seido holster--I was used to a plastic belt clip with a Razr and this one fits nicely and is easy to use. Soft inside protects the phone, and I have not seen any issues with the top of the Curve getting scratched like some users reported.

I've ditched swivel holsters since I've yet to find one that does not break when stressed. All of mine (inclusing the RIM-branded ones) break within days or weeks right where the swivel attaches to the housing. Admittedly, I'm tough on cases but I find that the generic clip-on cases (cheaper, BTW) with NO swivel, are better able to stand abuse.

Of course, if you pamper your device, the swivels are more convenient but not necessarily better.

I had the swivel plastic Razor belt clip too. This is my first blackberry and the first time I've made a serious attempt to move from two devices to just one, (iPAQ + Razor).

Couldn't be happier by the way. I use the leather BB case with the magnetic catch. I like the way the magnet turns the Curve off or changes the ring pattern when it's in the holster. That feature was a surprise for me. No issues with it breaking or getting scratched.

I don't have the link but check out senacases.com,just got about a month ago the slimmest leather pouch I have ever seen for a bb,I think it's called the super slim shark skin pouch and it works well.

+1 Always look for a case that has the magnet sleeper function on it. It's worth it and helps with the battery life.

I certainly don't pamper mine and have never had problems with RIM's OEM holsters (and I've used many, many models over the years). Obviously, YMMV.

I use the Curve OEM leather holster.

Thanks to all for the good feedback.

I had an opportunity to play with the Curve and a Verizon plastic holster (didn't get the brand). Even though the holster itself was too soft, the overall feel was good (and surprisingly small) on the hip. Coming from a flip phone, I thought it would feel more bulky; I'm glad it's not.

Default blackberry holster causing 8330 to go into lock mode

my wife's 8330 seems to go into "lock" mode whenever she places the phone into the holster. she then has to clear the "lock" before she can answer the phone. Is the phone not set up correctly or is the holster w/ magnet causing the problem? Any help on this would be appreciated....thanks.

You can go into Options -> Security Options -> General Options and in there you will have an option to either "Allow outgoing calls when locked" or "Lock handheld when Holstered" make the change you prefer and you shouldn't have that problem anymore.

Also you get the BlackBerry swivel leather holsters from newegg for cheap, I got one for my 8330 for 10 bucks, cheapest I've found online.
