Doesn't sound very encouraging. The 4.0 volume level is too low to use while driving in my truck. Its pretty clear cut, the only solution for me is 3.8 until the volume level is raised.

I have the Jabra BT200, BT250 and Motorola HS810. None of these are on the "approved" list - however the BT250v and HS820 are.

Is the volume any different (HIGHER) while using these headsets?

Don't let RIM's use of the word "may" get you down ... yet. I would expect that there are legal implications in guaranteeing a fix before it's been fully developed, tested, and released, so the appropriate disclaimers/CYA need to be put in any official written statement.

The rep I have been working with has been great with the follow-up, so I'm willing to give them a little more time.

As to the volume level on the other headsets, I don't know as I only have the Moto 810 and 850.

Well, it looks like the earliest we have any chance of a fix will be in 4.1, which will likely not be until around the end of the year and, of course, dependent upon testing and release by the carriers.

While the support trouble ticket is closed, there is an open ticket in development under consideration for 4.1. My rep said that he will generate an official knowledge-base article that should be posted online in about two weeks (after necessary intenal reviews, sign-offs, etc.).

After that, anyone who has the issue can call their carrier and reference the KB# as an issue he/she is experiencing and request a fix. The more callers, the higher the priority and possibility for a fix.

Hopefully, this will end the "you're the first person to ever report this issue" syndrome.

I have not had a chance to test a BT headset yet. But , I do notice a very low volume issue on my corded headset. It is the one that came with the BB. I can have the volume turned all the way up and I can't hear hardly when I am in my car. I have attempted to adjust the volume both ways to no avail. But, if I go to normal use or speaker phone it sounds proper.

Blackberry.com KB Article on low BT volume:

http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...44775&vernum=0

-------------------------
Article Number: KB-04265

Description: When making a phone call with a handheld running software version 4.0 or later, the volume on the Bluetooth headset is lower than the volume with software version 3.8. The volume level in version 3.8 was set higher than intended. The volume level in version 4.0 or later is by design.

Translation:
We screwed up in 3.8 and made the Bluetooth headset usable in normal environments. We were able to fix this in 4.0 by making the bluetooth headset useless unless you are sitting under your desk w/ your office door closed.

Despite some of the rumors, upgrading to 4.0.2.49 did not result in higher BT volume for me. Of course, as the RIM rep said in early August, the earliest chance of getting additional volume would be v4.1 at the end of this year or early next year.

Angry

Also no improvement in Bluetooth volume for me. I cried all weekend. 7100t w/ HS810. How can it take more than a year to fix something that worked great when I first bought the phone? ;-(

I use a 7290, but, it is useless as a phone IMHO, if it were my primary voice phone Signal insurance would have been out one sinkin 7290 >>>>great otherwise

Default Potential Fix for BT Volume in 4.1

Looks like there is good news. My RIM rep has indicated that there are improvements to the volume and call quality over Bluetooth in the 4.1 handheld software.

Can't wait to try it and see if it's true. Still no indication on release date.

Man I hope they fix this. My HS810 has withstood major abuse but is just about to fall apart. I hate buying a new one when RIM has made it almost useless.
