I have downloaded the BES Express install file and have upgraded my Full BES without any issues.

is there anything special that needs to be done to install this? we are on 4.1.2 exchange 03 with local msde. I've been looking at their documentation but they just talk about upgrading from prior 4.0 versions.

RIM was here last month for the roadmap and the monitoring is held up in legal with no ETA now. (great)

The full 4.1. SP4 download according to T-Support will be available next week.

I'm guessing here ... but jletendre probably had a meeting with some folks with RIM and discussions regarding the monitoring application(s) expected in the next major release is delayed due to discussions among folks in the legal field.

thats how i read it.

I assume BES still doesn't work on a 64 bit platform?
This is a killer for Exchange 2007 in a SMB environment!

Hdawg is correct, we met with our regional reps and I have been asking about better monitoring since RIM aquired needtxt.

The product is ready to go but the RIM legal staff is making sure everything is airtight prior to it's release. If I get an ETA I will post but assume late 3rd Q now .. if not later.

So I just d/l'd SP4 for Domino 4.1.... a whopping 244 MB! Maybe I missed something in the documentation, but is that just SP4 at 244 MB or is that the full 4.1 install with SP4? (with all the previous SP and HF)

If it's just SP4 at 244.. then HOLY CRAP! If it's the whole shi-bang, that's a different story. I'll call RIM T-Support if I needed to get the answer, but I'd rather not sit on hold just for something as simple as this. You'd think RIM would post clearer documentation....

RIM is the only company I know that releases the full versions and the upgrades as the same size ... maybe I've just blocked the others ones out.

Its pretty much the same exact distro with a little magic in it to say its an upgrade for full version ... anyone know what that magic is?

I would love if they noted clearer what is exactly NEW, the release notes have a small section but it's usually one line.

Update on the Monitoring pack - their trying to have it out Mid July now around the same time as the wireless desktop download.

In finalizing our Upgrade of Lotus Notes and Domino from ancient versions (4.6.5/4.6.7(int) and 5.0.7 for BES on the server level and 4.6.5/5.0.7 clients) to current versions (6.5.6FP1 on server and 7.0.2 client). I performed the BES install today to 4.1.4 from 2.2.6a. It worked like champ without a hitch.

the BES portion was as follows:
  • old box: NT 4.0 / Domino 5.0.7 / BES 2.2.3a
  • Rev'ed BES to 2.2.6a at RIM's suggestion.
  • new box: W2K3 / Domino 5.0.7 / BES 2.2.6a
  • Moved server identity (same name, etc) to the new box, shut down old one.
  • Rev'ed Domino to 6.5.6. Applied FP1 for 6.5.6,
  • Rev'ed BES to 4.1.4 from 2.2.6a.
  • Plan next consolidate our 16 user BES onto one of the existing mail servers and decommission the dedicated BES box.

May rev to R7 on the Domino server if I see anything compelling enough at the moment.

MD5 checksums are the same for all files except Setup.exe and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.msi.
