Just wondering if and how often you guys do battery pull? (not couting those that is "required", like apps require restart etc). For my 8800, I seldom do that. For my 8900, I also don't do it often.. but I am wondering if I should and maybe it will "clean up" things and not drain battery that much? (I did have the latest OS 174 and turn off GPS, and auto-shutoff at night)..
Doing it periodically can't hurt. I do it every couple weeks or so, to optimize my free memory.
I don't think there is a pat "right" answer here. It depends on the device, the OS, and the number of apps you run on a daily basis.
If you find you have to do it daily just to keep some memory free, it may be indicitive of an issue (usually too much "onboard"-apps, media, old e-mails, etc.)

When I was using my 8320, I would do a battery pull every 2-3 days. With my 8900, I have to think about doing it since it rarely has problems. I'd day I do a battery pull every couple of weeks...maybe.
I've done about 4 today, and three yesterday. I can't count Thursday because I was installing and upgrading and those require resets. Now I'm getting concerned.
that is a free app that you can schedule to do a soft reset everyday if needed. I was told by a T-Mobile tech that you should do a soft reset everyday to clear memory, etc.
So far the app works great and doesn't take up a lot of memory.
it is now a habit for me to pull out the battery because i have spare battery love it though, frees up quite much memory even though javelin has 256 megs of memory
i found softreset at geek and proud.net - BlackBerry Software its not a scheduled reset you do it when you think you need it its a little bit easyer then pulling the battery and it free.

I read this thread on Tuesday and downloaded Quickpull and installed it planning to use it daily on a shedule. After I installed it I decided to use it there and then to simulate a battery pull and forgot I had my 3rd party theme active!
Result Dead BB and an evening downloading and installing a new OS. Despite being a newb, I wasn't as worried as I would have been if I'd not already been scouring this forum. So hats off to the good guys

I had the exact same problem with the wife's 8220. Thank god I read these forums as I had a pretty good idea on what to do. Just frustrating that it took me 2 days of work to get it back working for her. She almost gave up using Blackberry and going back to her RAZR.
not starting new thread with same basic topic so ill ask here. i have 113542413 bytes free. what should be the norm. and at what point do you all do a pull.
i know 256mb = 268435456 bytes so i have roughly 46% free is it time
