Default Hotmail account unable to add to Curve?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm trying to add my hotmail email account to my 8310 curve, but it won't let me. Has anybody had this problem?

Sure. Search and you'll see. Short answer is newer free accounts won't work (though apparently you can access from browser); and some older as well as paid accounts can be setup in BIS.

Check out http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Main_Page but be aware it is still undergoing recovery after a crash a few days ago. And also see http://home.comcast.net/~tamsterra/index.html. Much good information at those pages.

Microsoft is greedy and wants more money, I guess.

I'm having the same issue. I am actually able to send emails from my curve using my hotmail account, and have received one email... but nothing more.

Pre-2000 account have free push
Other need the <premium> or whatever which cost an annual fee

If you do qualify for push or pay for it, you have to check the options for it when under the advanced hotmail page in the option tab.

My account was activated Jul/2001 and I have it set up with my bis no problems. I'm not paying any fees and I'm not signed up for any premium package.

I have just given up using Hotmail (I have deleted my account completely) because I couldn't add my hotmail account to my BlackBerry. I switched to Yahoo with messenger and everything. It's not too easy having to notify all my contacts of this move, but I want to get all my emails on the BB.

Search and install " Jivetalk" it automatically imports all your friends. It costs $20.00 though. Lots of good word about Jivetalk.

Credit to blackberrysync.com. I created a new free msn account today and followed these instructions and was able to set it up on BIS, along with my free hotmail account.

How to get Hotmail on your BlackBerry
Posted on Mar 10 2008

Update: This little tricks seems to only work for incoming mail but outgoing messages don't send.

So if your a new BlackBerry owner and eager to put your Hotmail account on your new berry you may notice its not easy. A member over at HowardForums has found a way to enable Hotmail for free! Usually Microsoft makes you pay for IMAP/POP access. Give this a try:

1. Download the Windows Live software at windowslive.com
2. Login to the software to access your inbox
3. Press Tools
4. Click Options
5. Select the Advanced tab
6. Look for Maintenance
7. Under Troubleshooting click POP, IMAP and HTTP
8. Press close
9. Then go login to BlackBerry Internet Service and add your hotmail account

Default Blackberry hot mail setup....

For anyone whose looking into how to setup hotmail in lackberry curve.
Free account will work. This is how you do it:
First you must go to your service providers website and setup the email account that you want to use.
After you have done this setup. You will then go to your phone, Run the wizard. setup email acount. Reboot might be required. If you did it right, you will see the license areement and terms. Click agree. Then you'll see " you have successfully configured email" messege. You're done!!. wait for the the 20 minutes. Then your good to go......Enjoy
