When i receive excel documents via email i can open and view them fine. If i use the Blackberry Desktop Manager and transfer Excel Documents from my computer to the blackberry with Media Manager i can't open the files. I'm trying to safe schedules for my staff on my blackberry. Can someone please help. I called Cingular and they said it can't be done.
hi, i had the same problem - thank you for informing re dynoplex.
is'nt there a cheaper alternative - i thought i found their software quite expensive.
I have the trial version of efile from dynoplex and i still can't seem to open the excel document that i transferred to the 8800 Blackberry via Desktop Manager. I also tried the GridMagic software and that will not open the file either. There has got to be an easier way. Why is it so easy to view the excel document when it is sent as an attachment via email? Any help would be very appreciated.

I think the only way to transfer office files to your BB and use them is via efile (it comes with eoffice)
The Media Manager is just that...a MEDIA manager. You can basically use the handheld as a Flash Drive, but that's about it. You won't be able to open the files without the aforementioned software.
I'm guessing your on a BES since when you are sent emails with excel attachment you are able to read them. That's because the BES has a program that converts the excel document into a format that the handheld can read. The handheld my default has no NATIVE excel viewer. Hence the need for third party software.
So if you want to view the excel document then just email it to yourself.
Gridmagic is a Excel compatible product at a reasonable price. I have used it with my 8700 and it works fine. I have not tried it with the 8800. Here is a link "simprit.com/gridmagic/index.html"
eOffice version 4 is out and it does support SD card now. It also includes imporved attachment handling and a new document viewer ViewAll. Upgrades are free for registered users. We also do not charge subscription any more, everything is a one time fee.
