Default Blackberries to go through company proxy

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I am trying to get our BB's to go through our company proxy. I must be doing something wrong as I cannot get it to work.

We are using v5.0.3.31 for Lotus Notes.

Under the MDS instance I have filled out the Proxy Mappings as follows:

URL - htt p://.* (Sorry about the space but the forums will not let me post a URL yet)
Proxy item - PROXY x.x.x.x:8080
Proxy String - x.x.x.x:8080
Proxy Type - PROXY

A username and password is entered.

When testing this on mine and my colleagues BB I seem to go straight out through the internet. If I go to sites that should be banned by our Proxy I can get to this sites fine from the BB (This idicated to me that it isn't going through our proxy).

Is there anthing else that I should be configuring for this to work? Anything wrong with the above settings?

Any sugestions will be most welcome.

Thanks
Richard

Are you using ISP Browser or MDS Browser?

I am using the Browser icon located on the Touochscreen. how do i find out if it is ISP or MDS?

Sorry if that sounds a basic question but I have never really done anything other than set a BB up.

Thanks
Richard

what device?

I ask because with OS 6 the device can not specify the path unless configured in BES, but older ones can choose browser type

Is internet traffic properly proxied when using the same settings you added to MDS-CS using IE on the BES server? Also read this to enforce traffic through Blackberry Browser.

Hi everyone

I have disabled the IBS via the IT policies and this seems to have worked. Everything seems to be going through the proxy now and sites that should be banned are not accessible.

One thing, internet access does seem to be a fair bit slower now it is going through our proxy. Is this the norm?

Thanks everyone for you help on this.

it is as it goes through Carrier network back to corporate network and then out through your proxy. But still should be decent speed wise.

with BES 4.1.7 and too many log files, internet access can slow down depending on raid and server OS version.

I compressed mine and internet is a lot faster. I have not tried on BES 5 yet.
