Default BIS on BES

Are there any KB's with documentation for using BIS on BES?

One of my clients is looking at “lone worker protection” and they want to introduce extra features of the service which will be delivered by a BIS service from an external company – They believe it would be possible to deploy the BIS service book with routing configured for the necessary URLs to their devices, with normal management and email going back through the BES.

BIS is not something I am familiar with at all.

You can't host BIS on a third party company. BIS is hosted on RIM's server farm and you access it via the carrier's network. You can host BES externally and it seems your client already does that. What is he trying to accomplish? Developing a service that drops transport outside his hosted BES? That can be done using RIM's API. More info needed.
