Default Total Cost of Health Insurance

Please Login to Remove!

Now we have my companion poll. How much is the total monthly cost of your health insurance, including both what you pay personally and the amount that your employer contributes to your coverage?

Also, in your commentary, if you care to comment on how confident you are in the dollar figure you provide that would be appreciated.

Edit: In keeping with the other poll, the total cost should include dependents as well.

I am my own employer so same as other $140 / month. Good poll though because people really do not think of how much it costs their employer.

"n 1999, a year of family health insurance provided by an employer cost an average of $5,791, of which the employer paid $4,247 and the employee paid $1,543. But, by 2008, the average cost of employer-provided family health insurance was $12,680 per year, of which the employer paid $9,325 and the employee paid $3,354."

It may be free to you, but it most certainly is not free.

And of course, one of the things we are not addressing in this poll is the quality of the coverage. Full coverage is a lot more expensive than coverage for catastrophic events.

Of course coverage under a ppo is different than and hmo and so on

But let's just stick with the way we have these two poles set up
