Default Bold 9700 FREEZING Please help!

Please Login to Remove!

I am a new BB user, and have had the Bold 9700 for only 14 days. I am suffering from continual freezing to which the only solution is removing the battery and replacing it. This happens several times a day, making me detest my Blackberry!

I have read of similar stories and people have advised to update the OS. I'm not very technical so help on where and how to do this would be much obliged.

I'm from the UK and I'm with T-Mobile.

Thanks

You may want to remove them one by one to see which one may be causing the problem.

The standby button is NOT a bug.. RIM changed its function intentionally...

to prevent freezing is need properly close (exit) applications after opening or using them, imo 9 out of 10 times this makes device to freeze

Try to check the basics, first. Double check if the SD Memory card is properly inserted or not.

My dotted-line manager at work had a Blackberry Bold 9700 with the chronic freezing/rebooting problem a few weeks ago. AT&T sent a new phone -- same problem. Then, He tried the battery from my Bold 9000 (same P/N), but still freeze/reboot. Next, he tried my SIM card along with my battery -- no luck. As a last resort, he down-leveled the OS/firmware to a level similar to what I'm running on my Bold 9000 (9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel519_PL4.0.0.247_A4.6.0.304_AT&T .exe), and he hasn't had a problem since. Incidentally, my work Bold 9000 has had a random/frequent freezing problem for a minute or two at a time, sometimes requiring a battery pull, starting a couple months after I got it. After many months I finally asked for and got a replacement Bold 9000 from AT&T and it has been much better (1 or 2 freezes in the last few weeks since the new one arrived). I hope this helps some of you guys out there with Bold 9700/9000 issues. It seems to me that RIM went down-hill after the Curve 8300 series -- which incidentally I got another same 8330 when my New-Every-2 was up with Verizon last month because of the well documented issues with newer models/firmware. I really need my phone to consistently functionally operate, have good phone voice quality, and not have too small a keyboard. More speedy performance, larger memory, and consumer bells and whistles are secondary to me. I hope RIM Blackberry gets back on track soon. Ironically, their stock dropped around 4% today/after-hours upon announcing good earnings. I would be surprised if such pervasive newer Blackberry problems didn't have some effect on their current/future sales. RIM, please come back to basics and renewed quality focus because I love the Blackberry!
