Default wifi connected but is browser using it?

Please Login to Remove!

My 9700 says its connected to wifi wherever there'd be such an indication except that the wifi icon doesn't display at the top of the web page as done before with my old Bold/9000. How do I know if the browser is using the wifi signal? Can I be connected despite no wifi icon?

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

Didn't think there was a wifi indicator on the browser. On a BB, it defaults to using wifi, if available.

I believe you have to specifically open the WiFi (Hot Spot) browser to ensure a WiFi connection instead of a regular data connection. Somewhere within the browser options there should be a place to choose Hot Spot Browser as default.

Is this something new with the 9700/OS 5.0? I didn't have to do this with my 9000, and by the way, the wifi icon/symbol was always visible at the top of the browser when connected to a wifi network.
