P.S.

The leaked OS 6 package for 9670 Oxford (Clamshell) (9670_6.0.0.180.exe) contains CJK.alx and Japanese fonts, which might be usable on 9800 Torch.

can you help me with this?

i downloaded the 9700 east-asia OS and the 9800 new OS as well.

i moved the CJK.alx file over to the 9800 folder, also moved all cod files from the 9700-java folder into the 9800-java folder.

Re-typed all files that had "9700" to "9800"

Removed vendor file from the AppLoader folder.

Double clicked loader exe, followed the screen... no japanese font box.
Also when i manually ADD CJK.alx, gives an error...

I sent out email to everyone who recently requested the CJK files from me. I have included instructions in the emails too for instructions.

Update: I am still trying to find a solution for the Korean and Japanese input. Also going to see if I can get the pinyin and bopomofo Chinese input setup.

Why not just install 9800AllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel267_PL6.4.0.59_A6.0.0.135. exe to get the east asian language support instead of going through all these?

You are absolutely right . . . the leaked OS 6 package for 9800 Torch (9800AllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel267_PL6.4.0.59_A6.0.0.135 .exe) contains CJK.alx and, for instance, Japanese fonts.

We will NOT be able to activate Japanese Romaji Input option until we obtain such .sfi file as found in jAllLang / jEastAsia / jJapan (rarity) / jAMEA (rarity) variations (released or leaked) of OS 6 for 9800 Torch.

As I reported elsewhere, Japanese Romaji Input option is comprised of related .cod files plus a portion of a Japanese Romaji Input-enabled .sfi file. (Dictionaries and the other essential functions are supposedly contained in such .sfi file.)

Thank you for the clarification since I am not familiar with how the actual input files are enabled. I would have assumed you can enable it by setting your localization by setting Japan or something but then again, I am just making assumptions.

Anyhow ... for anyone who needs the download files, someone has gone ahead and hosted them for me:

if i try manually importing it says that the application is not compatible for my device (9800 ATT)... :(

I just tried and not getting the option to select language either. I know you use to be able to do it on old Desktop software....so I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I think I just figured it out. You have to go into C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and Click on Loader to run it.

i tried but .141 wouldn't work on my 9800 with the CJK.alx for some reason so i downgraded to .135 and followed the downgrade procedure.... now we just wait for them to make a new alllanguage version, i guess.

here is where you can download .135

Deposit Files

downgrade the OS on my BlackBerry? From BlackBerryFAQ
1. Delete the newer OS from your PC by going to Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs.

2. Then download and install the older version of the OS. BlackBerry Operating System Downloads

3. Install the older OS to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.

4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

5. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Then selected JAPANESE FONT and updated.

I combined the files from the .135 OS and some from the 9700 cod files and seems to have all the Korean and Chinese input files working now. Just haven't figured out why Japanese input is not displaying yet. ...

This is yet another JID (Japan Is Different.) symptom.

Would you please refer to "It appears that radio files are responsible for activation of Japanese Input Option." ?

yhamaie,

Give me some more time to figure things out. I doubt the Japanese input files are being restricted unless you have the correct sfi files. Since most of the 9500-series BlackBerry is the Storm-branded ones so they mostly run on CDMA here in the US. I am sure there is a way to enable the Japanese input languages.

As I said ... I can see if has changed when I have more time to play with the files next week.

JEEPers,

I have been following this thread quite frequently, since I just got my AT&T Torch, replacing my BOLD which was often running out of application memory.

I am desperately trying to add Chinese language read/input capability into my new Torch.

Can you tell me how to remove the original OS that came with my Torch? I tried doing it through ADD/Remove of Windows, but there was no where to delete the OS. And when I tried through Desktop Manager 6, there was n byo box to click to remove the OS.

Or can I just copy the COD files from the ALLlanguage.....135.exe and put them somewhere in the same directory as the .145 OS?

I am using Windows 7, by the way.

Please help, thanks!
