8520 Curve WiFi Issue with Airtel

Hi All,
i have a wierd issue with my new 8520.
i used to have BSNL broadband some time back where i used a Type 2 Modem which has an inbuilt WiFi router. later i switched to Airtel who gave a regular modem with no WiFi. i connected the BSNL Type 2 Modem to the Airtel Modem in order to use its WiFi capability and it worked fine. So my setup had one regular modem connected to a Type 2 modem which has a Inbuilt WiFi router. worked perfectly fine with my laptops.
When i tried connecting my 8520, it was able to search for my home network and connected successfully but when i try going to a website in teh browser it gives a message saying "Unable to connect to requested server".
i dont face this problem with myt neighbors Wifi netwrok.
is there a problem with my router setup? will it help if i buy a Modem cum wifi router from Airtel?
please help.
