A loose battery will cause this behavior. A common solution is to cut a strip off a business card and place it alongside the batter opposite the contacts. This will hold it tighter to the contacts and has been known to solve the problem, if indeed it is a loose battery.
If your battery overheated during charging or during use it can deform slightly. That's all it might take to prevent it from making a secure connection withe the contacts.
