I have a 4.1.6 server on Exchange 2003 setup and working. Can I use the existing NT username for the BES 5.0 setup & installation. This new 5.0 server will be setup using Exchang2007.

I'm thinking they will need to be different, because I will need a different mailbox - now for the Ex07 server.

I think just talking through this and writing it out - solved that problem for me. I'll just make a new SQL DB & username for it also, to be on the safe side.

Any comments are welcome.

I'd recommend determining your upgrade method based on what options you have in the upgrade guide.

I'd also recommend doing your exchange 2007 upgrade separately.

For instance, configure your 4.1 environment to support Exchange 2007 and move mailboxes first before going to BES 5.

Not sure if you have particular road blocks to prevent this but I'd treat this as 2 different projects.

I'm only testing the new 5.0 software and also only testing Ex07.

The only mailbox I'll be potentially moving is my own, and maybe the owners. I want to keep the current 4.1.6 bes on EX03, and the new completely seperate 5.0 on Ex07. I think it'll be pretty easy to create new AD users / SQL DB's. I have enough resources as this is all in a Hyper-V environment.

I'm almost done - just finishing up the Bes5 installation now.
