Hi All,

We are going to be upgrading our BES server from Domino 5.0.11 to 6.5.1 in order to upgrade BES from version 2.2 to 4.0 (Windows 2003 server).

Does anyone have experience with this sort of upgrade and can you advise on any pitfalls?

Specifically - what happens to the end-users? Will they lose all connectivity or need to recreate PINs?

You will need to perform a backup of the users . The best is to use an alternate hardware to load the new BES 4 and migrate the users over . You will have to take note of the new hardware requirement for BES 4 as it is more than BES 2.2 .

I agree with Matthew. It's a lot safer to bring up a new 4.0 server. If you can't, then make sure you have a complete backup of the 2.2 server so you can do a restore if the upgrade doesn't go well. Also, I'd upgrade Domino to at least 6.5.4 FP2, or even better 6.5.5.

I am also about to do this upgrade but am not familiar with Lotus at all.
How will I find out what version Lotus my client is on?
