Overview:
This is the long-awaited Vodafone and Today themes for 7100 series devices.

Important Note:
These themes are supported on the versions of the 7100 OS versions 4.1.0.365/4.1.0.309 (package/application version; currently available from T-Mobile) and above and the 7130e OS versions 4.1.0.364/4.1.0.309 (package/application version; currently available from Telstra) and above and the 7130g OS versions 4.1.0.401/4.1.0.321 (package/application version; currently available from Cingular) and above. These are NOT supported on versions prior to that.

Instructions:
* Note: If you already have the T-Mobile (7100; 4.1.0.365) or Telstra (7130e; 4.1.0.364) or Cingular (7130c/7130g; 4.1.0.401) OS loaded and used my BlackBerry.alx file available in Step 2, then you can skip on to Step 4 in each of your respective instruction sets below.

I guess yours is a bit more detailed than mine, but was this really required since I wrote it up a few hours ago?

There are more versions of the 7100 series handhelds than the 7130e, no? If I was going to make it for the 7100 GSM handheld users (which are about 80% or more of the 71xx market), then I was going to include the 7130e and the 7130c/7130g instructions as well. And from experience, most people would rather have simple instructions rather than ALX edits - this would include OTA links and JL instructions. In addition to a select few here, I've been doing theme how-to's for longer than pretty much anyone in the BB community, so its pretty much known what kind of instructions our users are more comfortable with following. Sorry if you think that I stepped on your toes - I'm sure most appreciate both of our work.

Yes, I do feel like you stepped on my toes, but I understand where you're coming from, so I won't take offence. I assumed that my instructions would work for GSM 7100 series devices, but I had no way to prove it so that was why I stated 7130e only.

Having said all that, I do appreciate your work, so hopefully the combination of our threads will cover anyone who wishes to do this.

Most would have likely balked on the path names, as they are different (trust, read some of the threads here and you'd be simply amazed at just how detailed and varied you'd have to be and STILL have people who ask questions). Unfortunately, comprehension and its combination with wishful thinking just aren't attributes commonly expressed on internet forums.

Vodafone download failed again. I think the Today theme and the Zen theme are the same because that's what it asked if I wanted to overwrite. Edit: Yup, the Today theme shows up as BB Dimension-Zen.

Yeah. I just tested all of the OTA downloads to my 8700 successfully. I was just going to suggest clearing the browser cache, but wiping the handheld should do it as well. heh.

Agreed. I hope you understand where I was coming from though. Us CDMA users feel left out of the fun sometimes but as I was a GSM BB user before, I am somewhat more daring when it comes to modification, and wanted to share my findings with others. I suppose that I am overestimating the mental capacity of 90% of the users on this forum to follow my instructions to the T.

Default Question

Since I have not yet upgraded to the Telstra .364, can I combine the upgrade steps?

For example:

1. use the Blackberry.alx file from the jibi post above (step 2)
2. use the net_rim_bb_dimension_today_240x260.cod AND
net_rim_120_today_240x260.cod from step 5 above to the ...\Java folder
3. use the net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_240x260.cod from the Bonus section above

It would be easier to do this prep before the upgrade to consolidate into one operation. Any thoughts?
