One of my users smashed his pearl. Got a new one in this morning, wiped it, updated os and attempted activation.

Everything seems to work fine, except messages and calendar. Nothing is there for either. What could be wrong?

Messages don't work? What happens when you try to send a message? Does it give the red X? If you open a sent message, what does it say next to status?

Sent messages do get out, but the replys dont come back. I can't get to the sent folder, it is not listed when I go to view folders. Also, just noticed tasks didnt sync either.

Will deleting this user from the BES and re-adding him help? will that lose any of his data? such as password keeper and 3rd party applications etc?

Deleting and re-adding will probably do the trick, but you WILL lose the wirelessly backed up info.

Can you get a backup from his previous device first? Or is it toast?

The screen is smashed, but it does power on and can make calls. So I will make a backup of the old device. is a sim card required to do the backup?

No, the SIM is not required.

Actually since you have the old device, what about just using the switch device wizard? That should also move his 3rd party apps over as well.

Thank you guys, your quick reply are greatly appreciated. I am using the Switch device wizard, I didn't think of that.

Thanks again.

sounds like you guys have this covered. When i have to set up a new user, i always delete him from the BES and re-create them. It seems to help.

If you have a Message Services line in there, make sure that it is set to Desktop. That area also controls BIS email.

These are under Email Reconciliation.

What happens now when you send from the handheld? Does it receive email alright now?
