Default 8700c Extended Battery - with Pics

Please Login to Remove!

I recieved the extended battery from EAccess.

It took all day to charge the sucker and it's about twice the size as the old one. Call me wierd, but I find that the extra girth actually makes the keypad easier to use.

I haven't been able to guage if it lasts twice as long, but time will tell.

The pics

Ayup. It will probably take a few days to figure out how it works. I have to figure out the percentage ratios all over again. For example, I know roughly how much activity I can do with 20% of the normal battery left. Is 20% on the extended battery 40% on the normal one?

I can run mine with the OEM battery for 2 days max. I wonder how long you can go with yours.

I don't generally skip nightly charge cycles, just use the hell out of the thing.

I found myself running out of charge a few times a month when things got busy at the office or when stuck at the airport. I'm hoping this gives me 50% more talk/panic time.

I bought this battery, and, it seems that it does BETTER than double! I love it.

I do not mind the extra thickness, and weight.

I run out of normal battery a few times a week during one days' usage (in particular when I am doing a 7AM-midnight day).

Of course, as I am very busy, I cannot afford to experiment, and NOT charge every night. But, so far, I have yet to be below 50% after one days' use. Also, I went one whole day in US last week, then took a flight to Europe without charging, played with my BB on th plane a bit, and used it the entire day in Germany, and I still had barely below 50% left.

This battery is a thumbs up!

I'm thinking you are right. I want a few more days with it, but the battery life is phenominal.

Do you think that they will ever develope a lithium polymer battery.

We sell a Sony Z520 that has like 12 hours talk time. Its crazy, but it also uses the polymer battery. Standard out of the box. Its a nice phone, inexpensive too

Battery life has everything to do with the device and the network itself. BlackBerry devices are less battery efficient than some other devices because of the connectivity. Another example is Nextel devices... they kill batteries becasue of the constant location updates for Direct Connect.

I'm not aware of polymer being anymore electrically efficient than LiIon batteries... only lighter.

This was a great thread. Thanks to Zoinks for all the hard work. I went out and got mine ordered today and while on the site, ordered a bluetooth keyboard too. Thanks to all. Joe

I got mine Tuesday. I drained it until the radio turned off and charged it over night. Right now I'm in the 'conditioning' stage, wheather that does any good, who knows, but I'm doing it anyways. After 1 day of normal use, it's down to 90%, unconditioned. If conditioning really does help out and extend it's use between charges, then I expect to get atleast a week's worth out of the battery between charges.

The manufacturer says that (12hrs) but it doesn't even last 5 hous talk time.

Don't be fooled lol

You guys must use your 8700c machines a lot. I'm getting 4.5 hour of Talk Time on the standard battery plus surfing plus messaging. I'm in an upgraded EDGE area in Metro NYC.

Does this bigger battery void your warranty?

Holy cow! That is quite the sandwich!!! You should have at least 6 months standby and 1 month talk time with that!

rcg -- Do you currently have the extended battery and door in stock or is it back-ordered? If back-ordered, any ETA?
