We currently have 40 or so devices with AT&T. We host our own in house BES with GroupWise.

I'm just wondering if there is any limitation to someone from my company going to AT&T and buying their own BlackBerry and us hooking them up with our BES.

Would that be an issue? There shouldn't be in limitation to just devices on our AT&T account can function right?, there is no tie in between AT&T and BES and RIM's NOC.

Is that possible?

BES does not care about carriers, its all about the correct Data plan.

Aslong as the have the BES provisioning on the carriers account, then your BES isn't going to care who the carrier is.

That is assuming that you don't mind users having their own devices on your BES!

Okay Well thanks fellas. I didn't think there was any limitation, except for us who manage it to know what cell phones/BB's are ours, etc.

The user with their own device is ME!

Long ago, before i got there, the powers to be decided to go with a BB for Data Only, and a separate cell phone for voice. Ridiculous right? Now when you add in my personal phone, suddenly i need a man purse to carry everything. I've been asking the big boss for almost 3 years now about consolidation, and she was about to do it, and then the economy just went to S*** in the last 6 months. So our IT budget got slashed. We can't buy any BB devices in 2009.

So i'm like...well if they are already paying for my BB and cell phone, both of which our out of contract. Maybe i can buy my own device. And then i can get them to reimburse for monthly charges. Genius! Then i will have one 1 device.

No, he means it must have a BlackBerry specific data plan from your carrier. Unlimited data won't count.

You need to make sure its an Enterprise Plan, sometimes calles Corporate Plan.

how much is the AT&T Corporate Data Plan? I know on our AT&T work account they are either $49.99 or $59.99....i think $59 is correct.

Would that be the same price? As i would pay walking into an AT&T store ?

okay i checked with AT&T looks like for the enterprise/corporate data plan, is $45.00 as long as you have voice provisioned on the device as well.
