Question ATT 7280 Shows Invalid SIM Card?

Please Login to Remove!

Bought a used ATT Wireless 7280.

Had a new SIM card activated but the the BB shows under the clock "Invalid SIM Card".

Spoke with the service provider (Cingular/ATT Wireless) they say everything is fine with the SIM card.

After 2 hours on the phone with their Tech Support they finally told me the BB is the problem can anybody help???

Does the SIM itself have an AT&T logo on it or Cingular?

C'mon guys - this is an easy one:

Original poster says he bought a used ATT Wireless 7280. As we all should know by now, AT&T locked all of the their Blackberrys. The only way to unlock it is to send it to Bongo Wireless, with $100 USD. It will not accept a Cingular SIM card.

Good thing I used the search function I was just about to post this...

Im in the exact same position you are in...I got a ATT Branded 7280 from EBAY thinking I could just put my Cingular card right in and get service. Now wonder the phone was so cheap. Ive been looking all day for an alternative to Bongo because Im really not trying to ship my phone to Canada...but If there is absolutely no other way...ill send it to them.

Im gonna go down to Cingular on my break to see if there is anything they can do about it.

Good luck... do you want the shipping address for Bongo now or after your break?

Default How did it go at Cingular?

I have been checking for a few days now no luck but BONGO.

Did you have any luck at the Cingular store?

I think I might just put mine back on ebay and at least get a few bucks back that I spent on the BB they wouldn't let me return to the original seller!

So far Bongo Wireless is the only option for voice/data/pin unlocking of Blackberry's. TMo does have a relaxed unlock policy if your in good standings.

Ask them if you can change from Cingular Orange to Cingular Blue service. They may charge you for a SIM with an AT&T logo on it though.

I put mines back on ebay...this is ridiculous...but thats our faults for thinking we're were getting deals. Wish I would have researched before I did this...
