Default White Screen on 8520!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. Ive just had a 8520 come in as it has been dropped and broke LCD screen. Ive replaced LCD screen but now all i get is a white screen. Could it be the software? If i hold my finger on Q (to change profile) it vibrate to say it changed and when i plug into PC (when switched on) it works with blackberry desktop manager and i backed up all the data on it successfully so is it hardware problem or could the LCD screen be dodgy? Ive also applied the black tape on solder points behind screen but no difference. Thanks.

Sounds like something wasn't connected properly when the screen was replaced. Either that or it's the wrong replacement model screen.

Everything is connected properly, ive disconnected and reconnected it but still the same. Ive done this on loads of blackberrys with no problems. Also its the correct model, and its also a second hand screen.

Just fitted another screen now. A brand new one. But its still the same. Just a white screen. Im 100% sure it the same screen as the one i took out (007/111). Looks like im going to have to back up and update. The phone has also been dropped so this may have damaged something else.

Default White Screen on Curve 8520

Hi All,

I'm having very similar problems. Broken screen on my BB, could see partial display through cracks and 'liquidy' looking bits. Also hooked the BB up to my laptop with BBScreenStream and I can see the OS working perfectly. BB Desktop Manager also working fine, syncing etc.......So, I replaced the screen with one from ebay (It is the correct model number, 007/111).
Now, all I get it is a white screen, the phone is still functional with BBScreanStream etc. I thought the new screen was faulty so I reinstalled the old one and that is now just solid white (with cracks, of course).
I have checked all the tiny sprung connections and stuck a piece of tape over the four usb solder points, and still no joy. Have also wiped with JL_Cmder and reinstalled BB OS. I am all out of ideas.......

ANY HELP MOST WELCOME...SOS!

Olly.

Did you replace the LCD Screen by yourself ? In your case, there are two situation. One is that your new LCD sreen is brokem. The other is that the clips of the flex cable is corroded. You have to take off the LCD screen and then use soft cloth wet with alcohol to clear it. If you don't know how to disassemble your phone, you can go to the web site: YouTube - Blackberry 8530i Take Apart Video for reference.

I have the same problem coz the screen is broken, have some liquidy looking bits. How do I know what exactly screen model I should buy? It's a 8520 white BB for the spanish market, just bought 6 months ago.

What should I do to know the model of the screen?
