Considering moving back to the iPhone 3G. I know, I know. I will miss the keyboard, but the apps I've seen and played with are simply unbeatable. 3G, GPS (speedier than the BB), and the accelerometer application (I race) are amazing. (I still have my 1G I'm going to sell and offset lots of these costs, and probably unlock my BB too before unloading that as well.)

OK, so the questions from your traitor:

What happens to the plans? Does the iPhone plan just get reset to the two-year from the start of activation, etc. (obviously change back to the iPhone data within our family plan)?

Thanks.

You may be able to get a quicker answer by contacting AT&T directly.

With ATT you can change your plan on the fly without having to commit to a new contract period (i.e. your stay within your current contract window.)

The only stipulation with changing plans with ATT is that they "claim" you will lose your accumulated rollover minutes IF you switch to a lower minute voice plan. I have done so twice and so far I they have failed to purge my rollover minutes

Actually, you're not changing your plan at all. The "plan" they care about is the voice plan. They will need to change the data plan from BB to iPhone, but the voice will stay the same (unless you decide to change that too).

Are you talking about the BB plan? I don't know... it would probably be just switched over to the iPhone (+$) data plan.

So, to summarize: walk into Apple store, activate iPhone (what happens here?) walk out, Blackberry is no longer usable?

yeah?

The other win for me I forgot to mention is work's Exchange server support on the iPhone is really sweet and seamless (wirelessssss!!!!), according to some workmates (At work, in order to get this to function requires all kinds of manager approval and BS, forms, etc. for the BlackBerry).

Thanks, all.

I was under the impression that to get the iPhone 3G you would need a new 2 year contract. so I think you will be reupped for 2 years. They will switch you to the $30 data plan and you will have to add on sms since they are not included in data plan.

Yeah if you go to apple store they will activate iphone there and I think they will kill your existing account as well, so yeah BB will no longer be active.

Really. Are you unlocking it? Does it really add value to do so; I mean the instructions are pretty easy. I also don't know about the legality of AT&T and Apple coming after you after the fact. Thoughts?

the only time you lose rollover minutes, either moving up or down, is if your rollover minutes is greater than the package you are moving to. If you have 1000 rollover minutes and you are on the 1400 package. you will lose 300 of those rollover if you switch to the 700 package, but will keep all if you move to the 2100 package.

Hey folks, what about the pricing? Why is there a larger cost associated with the online (Premier ordering), and what's the procedure to get the lower pricing (given my situation of iPhone --> Curve --> new iPhone?)

Thanks again!
