Angry Cannot enterprise activate

Please Login to Remove!

We had BES express 5.0, Server 2003 64 bit and Exchange 2007 on a single box and everything worked for one year.
Uninstalled BES and SLQ from exchange server
Added a new domain controller (Server 2003 32-bit)
Installed BES Express 5.0.2.
The MX Records and the exchange server is on external ip of x.x.x.138
BES is on external ip of x.x.x.137
There is no firewall other then allowing incoming ports.
I have allowed incoming 3101 traffic to x.x.x.137
Followed all the proper steps in the installation guides.
When trying to do an enterprise activation the blackberries time out.

How can I test to see if the BES is communicating properly with RIM
What else am I missing?
This is my 3rd BES installation so I have done it correct twice now.

As a followup to this post, it seemed Outlook was filtering the activation email to my junk mail box. So I closed outlook and looked at OWA. The activation email is there in my inbox but the blackberry times out. I have removed the battery to reboot the phone but still to no avail.

You actually don't need to allow inbound traffic on port 3101. You only need to allow outbound on port 3101 to us.srp.blackberry.com. Check connectivity to the SRP.

Question Re: Cannot enterprise activate

On the installation we verified the communication with us.srp.blackberry.com
Is the serial number tied into a specific ip or server?
Say we download the BES express, can I use the same serial twice?
I think that might be the problem as it looks like the serial installed was the one used on the exchange 2007 server which we uninstalled.

After the BES express is installed, is there any way to verify communication with blackberry?

If you try to activate a user which previously was active on a different server, but, on the same domain, the new server will think, that the user is still active on the old server (even if the old server is not running any more).

If my guess is true, then:
Delete the user from the server, also delete all blackberry related information from his exchange mailbox (additional checkbox then deleting the user).
If the device was used with the old server, also erase the device.

then try the activation again.

Case solved.
Turns out the 5.0.2 installation used the 5.0 serial that was on the original server. We figured out that you can change the SRP on the bes admin web page. After that I backed up my blackberry, wiped it and then it would activate.
