Hopefully this will be my last problem!

All my 8700's that are being activated on a new server can not add BB Messenger Contacts correctly.

I had posted in the 8700 forums but didn't get much help there...so hoping you guys have an idea whats happening?

If a person with a 8700 adds another contact that has a 7290,8100,8800 this is what happens:

8700 - sends request to another bb
8700 - contact shows up under pending as Firstname Lastname instead of Emailaddress.

Other - on the other BBs that recieve the request to be added...it shows up under pending as Email address.
Other - click accept

8700 - The pending contact changes from FirstName LastName to thier Email Address but should be changing to thier configured Name that they set on the contacts bb.

Other - User sticks in pending and never updates.
Other - send message to 8700....nothing happens

8700 - Send message to new contact and it creates a NEW contact on the other blackberry under contact and current converstation.

If you make the request from another device to the 8700 instead...then all works fine.

What version of OS and bb messenger on 8700?

Have you tried sending using PIN? Make sure you have the contact's PIN saved in your address book. From BBMessenger when you hit "add a contact" highlight the contact in your address book (don't click on it) and then hit the menu key. You'll see the option to request via PIN.

The OS on the 8700 have been 4.1 and 4.2 versions

OS versions shouldn't matter.

Actually was able to test this and PIN request worked just fine from the 8700...just not the email request
