Okay so here is the deal. As you may know by now, the Boston Celtics bleeeew the finals on Thursday night while the Lakers emerged victorious. For me, this was unacceptable. I proceeded to get blackout drunk at some bars around Fenway and woke up in the morning with no phone.

I assumed that I probably just dropped it or left it in a cab or something and didn't think too much of it because I had insurance. Anyhow, I get my refurbished phone from Asurion today and less then ten minutes after I activated it, I got 268 emails within like 3 minutes. I then realize that some girl's email is attached to my refurbished phone, and that I'm getting new emails and can respond if I so please. I've had refurbished phones from Asurion several years back that had a couple old texts or pictures from the previous owner so I didn't think much of it. A little while later I realized that the emails were not on the phone when I first turned it on and only appeared after I activated it. So now I'm wondering if someone snatched my phone or found it or whatever and attached their email and started using it. Or is Asurion just ridiculous and not clearing any settings on the phone before sending off their refurbished phone. Oh and I could tell from the girls email that she too also lives in Boston, which made me pretty pretty pretty suspicious.

Any thoughts?

The PIN of your refurb BB is currently active on your provider's system - with the previous owner's BIS account. Contact the carrier (VZW?) and explain the situation. They can release the PIN, which will stop the other person's emails. Then you can connect your refurb to your BIS service, which will allow you to get your emails.

Thank you for your response. What I'm really trying to figure out here is if this girl's email being coming onto my BB once I activated it was the result of her jacking my phone and loading her email onto it or the refurbished phone having settings that weren't cleared that were triggered when I activated the phone. I was leaning toward the latter until I saw from the her email that she lives in the same city as me, Boston. The phone was sent from Asurions HQ in Kentucky, so I thought it might be a little too much for coincidence.

Probably it's a case of the old service book for that rogue email account not having been deleted. Nothing nefarious, just poor practices on the folks that did the refurb.
