Default Windows 7 (64bit) + Outlook 2007 = calendar sync problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

Is there anyone able to sync his BB (mine is a bold 9700) with his Outlook 2007 calendar under win7 64bit?

I can't get this to work. It only works one way (comp -> bb), and it doesn't even give an error, it just doesn't do it. I use the latest DTM ofcourse.

Is there anyone that could confirm that he has this working?
Did you also have problems at first, and what did you do to fix this?

Is there a way around this problem that works?

I read about DTM not supporting 64bit, so should I use an alternative?

Please tell me if it simply doesn't work (then I will downgrade to 32bit) or that there is a way around this.

Yes I know DTM works, but it is clearly not able to fully communicate with outlook.

Does anyone else know how to solve this? As I read the internet on this subject I found out there are more people with this problem, but I can't find out whether there is a solution to this problem.

I use Windows 7 64-bit and have had no problems using Desktop Manager to sync between my BB (9630) and Outlook 2007. So it definitely works. I'm at a loss to even know what to suggest since mine worked flawlessly on both an older computer that was upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit and on a brand new computer that came with it loaded.

Only thing I can think of is to be sure that you have double checked all the settings to ensure that everything is set for two way sync.

+1.

Win7 64-bit
BB 9700 (OS 5.0.0.656)
DTM v5.01
Outlook 2007

I can sync any item (calendar, tasks, contacts, notes) both directions without issue...

Might help to look at the error log.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.1 is supported with Microsoft Windows 7 (64bit).
Overview
BlackBerry Desktop Manager connection logging can be useful for diagnosing issues that are not related to Intellisync®. These can include application errors, connectivity issues, and issues in which BlackBerry Desktop Manager stops responding.

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

1. Close BlackBerry Desktop Manager and disconnect the BlackBerry smartphone from the computer.

2. Click Start > Run, type regedit and click OK.

3. Create a registry key called Logger in the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion

Note: For 64-bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7, the registry path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Research In Motion

4. Click on the newly created key and add the following DWORD values:

FilterMode - set value to 0.
MaxPriority - set value to 30.
DebugEnabled - set value to 1.
LoggingEnabled - set value to 1.
LogToFile - set the value to 1.
HistoryBuffer - set the value to 3e8.
5. Start BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

6. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and reproduce the issue being experienced. The following two log files will be created in the specified locations:

DEVICE_CONNECTION-(year-month-date).log in Windows\System32 if you are using Microsoft® Windows XP.
DEVICE_CONNECTION-(year-month-date).log in Winnt\System32 if you are using Micrsoft® Windows Server 2000 and in Windows\system32 if you are using Microsoft® Windows Server 2003.
DEVICE_CONNECTION-(year-month-date).log in Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Window s\System32 if you are using Microsoft® Windows Vistaxxx8482; and Microsoft® Windows® 7.
DEVICE_CONNECTION-(year-month-date).log in Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Window s\SysWow64 if you are using 64 Bit versions of Microsoft® Windows Vistaxxx8482; Microsoft® Windows® 7 .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional Information
Additional registry settings can be copied into a test file with a .reg extension for importing.

Open the registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\Logger

Default Solution for sync with Outlook

Its because at the installation of your desktop manager you have to choose to install a business mail account. Then it will ask you witch one, you will answer Outlook. From there on, desktop manager will install the outlook sync specifications. I've been searching for two days before I've found this very welcomed solution at last. I was so furstrated. :0)

So even if you dont have any real business account. You need to choose that setting to get access to Outlook syncronisation with BB.

I suggest you just reinstall your Desktop Manager and be carefull during the installation so you will chosse business account. (not those exact words, but you will recognise it, there is only one choice anyway, wo pretty easy.)

Take care all. Hope will be very useful.

Don't think so. My DTM is not installed for BES but only for the personal (think it says internet email when installing but it's been a while). As stated above, no problem at all with Outlook 2007, Win 7 64-bit.

Try DTM v6. That should clear up the problem. I was running Win7/64 with Office/Outlook 2007 and DTM v5.0 and had no problems. When I upgraded to Outlook 2010/32 bit, it wouldn't sync anything. When DTM 6 was released recently I upgraded and everything is fine now.

When you upgrade, you may have to reset your sync settings.
