This is annoying. I navigate to BlackBerryForums.com, to the PlayBook sub-forum, hit "search this forum" and get the standard drop-down search box. The onscreen keyboard pops up but the second I start to type in the search box the box disappears! Add this to the list of bug fixes I hope to see in the next major update.

Yes, it is annoying. I think I've managed to get to the advanced search screen -- and once there do a search -- but as I write I can't remember how I do it.

I see what you mean. Did you check the browser settings to be sure javascript is enabled and pop up blocker is disabled?

I just tried it.

when you get the keyboard after pressing Search, press Return.

The keyboard goes away and the Search page comes up. Press on the Search Terms window and another keyboard comes up.

In my case, I do have popup blocker enabled. I haven't tried without, and (for me) it isn't that big a deal to make me diable popup blocker.

I also see this on other websites where there are similar type of drop downs, typically a little window like a menu. Click the link and before you can select an item the window closes....I tolerate it and work around it.

The main search works for me including advanced search. I think Rambo is referring to being able to search from within a thread in a subforum.

I too can live without it, but it's one of those many little flaws that points out how much work RIM has to do on the PlayBook OS to get it ready for prime time. I still think the PlayBook is a spiffing piece of kit, but there is much room for improvement too.

I guess you are right.....though the behavior does sound the same as what happens for me on the search link at the top.
