Battery Life!
Please Login to Remove!
I thought my Tour had excellent battery life between charges until today. Last night I enabled GPS, charged the phone fully and switched it off. This morning I put it on at 6.00 AM and by 8.30 AM the battery was almost dead!
Must be the GPS.............................

That's a much bigger problem than GPS.

Enabled GPS as in setting GPS Services to "Location On"?
I have been using BBMaps, GoogleMaps, and VZNav(UAT) for some time now and have not experienced a battery drain like the one you described. I have had GPS Location ON and Location Aiding ENABLED from day 1. Perhaps there was something running in the background?

I don't know but am recharging now so let's see what happens the rest of the day.
Tomrorrow I am going back to the Verizon store as I want them to help me on a couple of issues that I cannot resolve and I will tell them about the battery problem too.

I talked for 2 1/2 hours last night and the battery wasn't even full when I started. I am confident that I could talk at least 3 hours on a full battery. I thought that was pretty good.

Thus far, I've been tickled to death with battery life. Yesterday was maybe 45 min-hour of talk time, texting, a few emails plus some web browsing/Twitter reading. Oh and playing some games (Texas Hole 'Em). My battery was still at 70% when I went to bed. With my old Storm I'd have been almost gone for sure.

Sounds like a defective charger to me ... was the 9630 getting warm during charge? It should.
I am getting 12-16 hours of usage per charge.

i just got mine yesterday and i must admit i was worried that i would have a battery problem because the battery is the same for the storm witch is a pure disaster, so far so good. i played with it for about 3 hours on the last bar but i was just personalizing settings, no talking and no browsing.

Yeah, mine stopped charging at about 4 am, come like 7 pm it was almost dead, which was extremely surprising, although i did have about a 1hr long BBM convo continuosly today which probably contributed. I'm going to keep an eye on battery life a little more closely now.

I noticed on the Tour the "LED coverage indicator" (Options, Screen/Keyboard) is OFF, opposed to the 8830 being ON by default. Likely for battery savings...

Definitely make sure you cycle it the first three times. I'm getting good life so far. I'm getting a full days use out of it.

Same Problem Battery Life Disasterous
First couple of days battery life was very good. Yesterday it was marginal, but acceptable (Full charge previous night, 8am to 9pm before indicator was yellow). This was with UberTwitter running all day, GPS Location ON, Backlight at the default 100%, BlueTooth ON
Today to try to extend the battery life today, I made sure UberTwitter was OFF, but with all other circumstances the same the phone was showing the red indicator by 3:30PM!
===== Follow - Up =====
I just talked with Verizon Tech support. They said they haven't heard of many complaints on the tour thusfar, but quickly agreed this battery is problematic. They've made arrangements to have it replaced tomorrow. This and coverage is why I'm with Verizon...

I used mine yesterday with GPS and VZNavigator and bluetooth on, which took a big chunck out of my battery on the Curve. Did not use as much on the Tour. I've been happy with the battery so far.

I was at Verizon today, they confirmed that there is a known problem with the batteries on the BB tours. Just go into your Verizon store and mention that you are having a problem with the battery life and they will replace it free of charge. (There were 3 people at my Verizon store, all with the same problem)

My battery life has been disappointing so far. I was hoping a few cycles would fix it. Maybe I got a bad one too?

Wirelessly posted (8130)
I have had mine for a week now and the battery is 30 percent better since the first couple of days.
Todays results:
Read about 25 e mails
Took 10 5 minute calls while on bluetooth
Read 6 text messages
Battery at 35% right now

My Tour battery life is appreciably worse than my 8830. I have GPS disabled (911 only). With typical usage, my 8830 would have been maybe 50% at the end of the day, but my Tour doesn't even make it all day before dying. My locations (i.e. work and home) are the same, and if anything my usage has a bit light the past few days. I shut down all third-party apps the last couple days, and it's not noticeably better. I've had the Tour over a week, and done almost full discharges (whether I like it or not!), and full overnight recharges, and the battery life hasn't gotten any better...
Has anyone gotten a battery swap from Verizon, as an earlier poster mentioned, and had better results from the new battery?
