Question WIFI OR GPS? Which do you prefer?

The obvious argument I've heard is that Wifi trumps GPS overall. BUT I've also heard the argument that Wifi will do you no good if your stuck in the middle of nowhere.

WiFi. I can always add on GPS with a puck, but I can't add on WiFi.

Anyway, I have an 8900, which has both ;)

I always prefer to go with WIFI. But typically some devices have GPRS and some have WiFi. However, that's not always the case.

I prefer both, such as you would find on the 8900 or 9000.

If you have to choose between the two (like a 8310 (GPS) or 8320 (WiFi), you can always get the 8320 WiFi model and add GPS via a GPS dongle such as the Freedom Mini GPS via Bluetooth.

There's no universally "better" choice. It's a subjective matter. I have no need for WiFi. I use GPS all the time. YMMV.

I actually prefer GPS. I find I almost never use WiFi, but my GPS has bailed my butt out of trouble on more than one occasion. I like having it built in too, not on a keychain so I can lose it or fail to charge it. Firing up Google Maps with GPS is about as simple as a thing can be, which is always good for me.

I say both. That's why I love my 8900.

My 8330 has both. But if I were to choose it would be the GPS. I have a nationwide plan, so there is no roaming. I haven't used the WIFI features and not sure I ever will, but I have used the GPS to find a couple of places I didn't know where or how to get to.

I hate to break it to you but your 8330 does not have WiFi.

I'd say WiFi, because the GPS on BlackBerries is such a pain. Especially while driving. Have to keep moving the ball or pushing buttons to keep it "alive."

If you are talking about the backlight going off, just get the program BBLight and never have to touch your BB again while using GPS and driving.

I just noticed there was a backlight setting for GPS too...changed it to < 25% and see if that helps...

Ditto, wawasteele, and many GPS application have their own option to keep the backlight on while operating the GPS.
