Default Number of Days of Emails Restored When at Enterprise Activation Time

Please Login to Remove!

To All,
Hope all is well.
I have access to the Blackberry Administration Console. Where is it checked how many days an enterprise activation puts back on a blackberry? Also, can it be changed if necessary?
Thanks in advance

Assuming you're on BES 5:
BlackBerry Solution topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component view > Email > View (BESNAME_EMAIL)

It's under the Message Prepopulation Settings section.

Also, message pre-pop only occurs on specific activation scenarios.
If you're reactivating the same device for the same user, it won't occur.

Thanks. The setting is there. In fact, it is for ssame device, same user...so that settings won't apply...? The settings I think you are referring to is "Prepopulation by message age"
Any idea on what type of activation scenarios it will work and/or if it can be changed to say, 30 or 45 days?
Thanks again. Very useful info.

Correct.

Pre-population only occurs if you're activating a new BES user, or a new device for an existing BES user.
If you're simply re-activating the same phone for an existing user, it won't happen.

The maximum pre-population is 30 days or 3000 messages... whichever is reached first.

Thanks. Very useful information.
It appears then that for existing users, the "pre-population" may be non-existing and/or only really recent messages may download to same device (whether new handheld -not new user- or existing handheld that was wipe). hard to believe that there is no setting for existing users/handheld and older messages.

There is no setting, but there is a registry hack to do it.
See knottyrope's post above. (#6)

yes, I read that one. A registry hack on the Windows install that is running the BES. Rather interesting and useful. Thanks to all.

Welcome, it is a nice hack but should really be a setting IMO.
