Default Freezing browser

Please Login to Remove!

First post from a pre-Christmas 9800 user.

No other issues here apart from this afternoon. I tried (still experimenting) finding and connecting to a wi-fi hotspot (Cafe Nero, central London) and ever since, the browser freezes when chosen. I can't scroll off the icon either and when clicking on links within Twitter etc. the phone is altogether unresponsive. The remedy is to press Home again.

I read on another thread for the Curve to remove the battery but this sounds a bit temporary. What's going on .. a glitch in OS6?

BTW All connections to my saved network at home is fine.

Thanks.

Are you running the latest OS version for your device? Get the number in Options>Device>About Device Versions.

It will be in a v6.0.0.xxx format.

Thank you,

It shows as v6.0.0.246 (bundle 695, platform 6.4.0.105) and shows as the latest version within the desktop software.

Would I be right in assuming that, much like a computer, a re-boot solves these issues on a BB or is re-booting ill-advised unless absolutely necessary?

Rgds,

A reboot should always be your first port of call for any problems with a BlackBerry, 8/10 times it will fix a problem. No it will not harm the device.

You are running an OS that is later than the new one. My thoughts are that this may be a bug that could have possibly been fixed. The newest is v6.0.0.337 currently, instructions on how to upgrade can be found in the stickies section of the 9800 forum.

I just looked up re-boot in the manual PDF but it doesn't appear to be mentioned. Could you please point me in the direction on how to do so?

Otherwise, I'll go to .337.

Many thanks!

To reboot you simply pull out the battery whilst the device is running, wait a few seconds and then replace it and let the device boot.

Thanks again. Before I do that I'll try to install the new OS however I see it's a PC/windows install and I'm on a Mac.

Best wishes.

Try running windows in VMware or parallels if you can and do it that way, or if you have access to a PC, do it on there.

I had a similar issue with my Torch (also on .246) - I had noticed that the issue started occurring after I installed the LinkedIn app. I have since uninstalled Linked and haven't had the issue since.

It's also worth noting that doing a battery pull does not harm your blackberry - you can do it anytime to ensure all apps shutdown - be sure to do it while it is on (not turned off) and wait about 30 seconds before reinserting.

Good luck and keep us posted.
