Every so often none of our Blackberry's are able to send mail, and any kind of GAL lookup fails with "Lookup Failed".

The Blackberry KB has an article that says to restart the BES, which seems to suggest they know there is an issue but can't or won't fix it.

Restarting the BES server does work, but in 2011 it seems a bit useless to be having to resort to scheduled reboots - I'd be grateful if anyone has any suggestion as to what the issue might be.

BES Express 5.0.2.29 on dedicated Windows 2003 R2 x64 & Exchange 2003 SP2.

What KB article?

I don't run BESX or Exchange, so I may not be of much help, but did you check the BES logs and/or the event viewer?

An Exchange reboot is often the cause of this - I make it a habit of rebooting the DC, then Exchange, then BES.
