The thread was much more entertaining until I deleted the last 18 or so posts. I hate to close it. It's just too much fun.

I seriously don't understand the issues behind jihad-ist commentary and vindictive behavior for the defense and/or not of the BB data plan. Accounts get deleted..? language..? We're all educated and mature professionals, no?

It is a lovely piece of hardware. How you choose to use it comes down to your individual needs.

1) You need true push mail and surf through BIS. ---> Get a data plan.
2)You need access to the corporate intranet that runs a BES and/or corp email/calendar. ---> Get a data plan, activate on the BES.
3) You use third party mail/browser apps and need use over cellular. ---> Get a normal data plan.
4) You use hotspots ---> Use the wifi capabilities. No data plan needed.
5) You just use the phone for calls and texting. ---> Use the phone for calls and the keyboard for texting. No need for data plan.
6) You dont really call text or email anyone you just like the phone. ---> Buy it, put it in a display glass cabinet, open that case of vintage XO Martell cognac, light up a double corona Hoyo de monterrey, sit across from it in a leather couch and enjoy.

What ON EARTH you're flaming eatchother to hell and back for?

I didn't tell you off. I actually thought your prior comments were very good.

You asked the latter question, and that "type" or response is normally the reason why the flaming begins.

It's all good.

I can assure you that nobody was banned for having an opinion either way about BB data plans. Many of the posts that caused any action to take place have been removed from your view (soft deleted).

Look, everyone:

Who cares who uses a Bold without a Data Plan? I have two buddies with curves that do not use data plans. They dont want something for nothing, and they are att users paying $100 for phone service on these things when I pay $110 for phone and data. They aren't into email, but like the original poster said, (i forget the name after all this reading) there are great features that a Blackberry has, outside of the data plan.

Yes, we all love data, and we love the maximized benefit of getting the full plan, but Blackberries wouldn't be sold without data plans if they were meant exclusively for data plans.

I personally think getting a Blackberry without a Data plan is like getting a dog that you never walk or take to the dog park. The berry needs the email, internet, media, messaging, etc. to be the happiest, just like a dog needs to run, run more and run more. Using a blackberry without a data plan is like a dog sitting inside all day - not being used to it's maximum, and both are sad, but they happen.

LOL, I was thinking more like a 4X4 truck and never taking it off road!

I too have a data plan and probably couldn't live without it, however, I would agree that it is not a necessity.
