Unhappy "Battery is Missing" error message on 8787g

Please Login to Remove!

My 8707g has been working well for several years. However, after charging it recently, the battery level indicator on the home screen is outlined in red and empty. When I turn on the BB using only the battery, then try to Turn Wireless On, the error message reads, "Battery is Missing, Please insert battery for radio use."

I have 3 good batteries, all 3 do the same thing after removing both battery and sim card, then starting the BB. When the BB charger is plugged into the BB, there is no indication of battery charging.

I cannot connect to my laptop to sync or backup, as it doesn't recognize that the BB is attached in.

I would appreciate any ideas.

OP said already tried batteries known to be good.

Sounds like the power circuitry is done.

If you can connect a computer and do a full backup, you need to do that right away.

2 out of the 3 batteries are new, only 4 months old, and were allowing the BB to go 3-4 days between charges.

Unfortunately, when I connect the BB to my laptop and check the connection, the BB Device Manager Connection Settings ask me to: "Please insure the device is properly connected." So, I cannot do any backup. That is not that big of a deal since I usually back up my BB the beginning of each month. So, I won't loose much data at all.

I figured my BB is dead, so I have been out shopping for a new smart phone. Don't know what to get, yet. Maybe another BB, but possibly the new Samsung Galaxy SII, or iPhone 4.
