Default For all you Techy's Computer, Blackberry USB error

Please Login to Remove!

Im getting extremely fustrated with my blackberry and all its software... ive posted several threads similar to this, ive searched google, and nobody seems to have a good anwser!!!! So give me your best shot. Basically my Pearl wont hook up to the computer by USB. I plug it in and I get the little lighting bolt and charger symbol for maybe 3seconds then it disappears. Meanwhile on my computer a bubble pops up saying USB device not recognized for a screenshot go here http://i21.tinypic.com/fy0129.jpg so when i click the bubble i get a window that looks like this (nother screenie) http://i21.tinypic.com/sx0yro.jpg when i investigate it and go to microsoft help it just leaves me to a dead end. I tried Reinstalling Blackberry software and Desktop Manger about 10times (My fustration) I completely redid my computer didnt help. I have a windows XP professional. Now i know its not my phone because the software works perfect on my friends laptop and he also has windows XP professional.... I used the same software, same USB, and same Pearl and it works perfect! but here on my home computer it gives me the USB error.... I tried updating my drivers like 5times and none the less it got me nowhere. Any suggestions???

Sounds to me like your Ian port is bad in your blackberry. I was using a cradle that seemed to have stressed mine ad well, and I started getting the same behavior.

Might be the USB cable itself?

I have the exact same problem, and I always have to re-position the phone or the cable and keep trying until the connection stays put. For some reason, putting the phone in an 'upright' position seems to work more often than not.

Well it seems as if the drivers are not functioning. As a long shot do you have any other drives mapped? Network Drives or other external devices. What happens if you unmap everything except the BB?

Thanks for your reply.

I am on a corporate network and cannot unmap drives.

USB works for a mouse.

What version of the Desktop Manager are you trying to install (IIRC) the pearl needed an update to DM in order for the correct UBS drivers to be installed.

Are you installing the latest version of DM? - 4.2.2 available from BB.com
