Does anybody have any experience with SAVO application and getting it setup with BES 5.01?

I've been requested to get this Application working with our BES servers but as far as I can tell nothing is preventing anybody from using this.

They keep getting a authentication 404 error. But SAVO themselves can't provide any logs or such to help troubleshoot this further.

How do you load this app on the Blackberries? Through BES push or are people loading it from the Internet or via AppStore?

Make sure the App has all the rights it needs on the phone.

Hey Freakinvibe...

Sorry for the late reply was out sick a couple days and then off site.

The SAVO app is on the blackberry AppStore.

I've had one of SAVO technical guys on the phone while testing it but they couldn't supply any logging or anything other than saying they are getting a 404 authentication error or something along those lines. It seems the application hits them but what it does once the requests is there I have no idea.

They mentioned something about proxying but I don't believe we have any proxying setup per say.

You should check on the BES, if you have a proxy entry for HTTP and HTTPS. You can also check on the device, if you manage to browse to

https://ssltest24.bbtest.net/

without error. Most Apps try to communicate via HTTPS.

A 404 error normally indicates a "Page not found" error. An authentication error is normally 401 or 403, so this is a bit strange.

I think your really need to get the exact error message and the BES MDAT logs to be able to pinpoint the issue.

Again sorry for the late replies!

I will do a some tests today with them and see if I can find anything in the MDAT logs as you suggest.

I did test the link you provided from my BB device and was able to see the Verisign Demo SSL page with no problems.

And your correct on the errors....this was the response from the SAVO App technical person.

I have no additional log information other than seeing the request response being a 401 unauthorized request.
Also would the logging be on the MDS server or the BB server?

That means you need a user name and password to access this application on the internet. Surely the people from SAVO must be able to give that credentials to you.

Do you have them separate? In many installations, the MDS service is running on the main BES. If you have them separate, yes the MDAT logs are on the MDS server.

That's the 100 dollar answer! I do have credentials but when I attempt to use it....says invalid password/username or something along those lines. On their side all they could provide was the 401 error.

Can't tell if its getting stalled at their gateway or getting there...accepting the pass and coming back and failing on our side....hundreds of different things could be happening per say...and they (the application group here trying to implement this SAVO App in our company) want answers. Heck they even wanted me to get Blackberry technical support on the phone with us to figure it out. With so little information it is making this hard to troubleshoot.

And doesn't help that i don't' know much about the MDS side of things!

A bit more information on how this application is working!

I spoke with one of the local people involved and this is what she explained:

Quote:
The app is installed to the BB device, but the activation key is generated by SAVO. When trying to activate, it should send a notification to SAVOs servers directly from the device and received via the device. However, as the BB devices are on the Enterprise server, the notification are going through our BES Enterprise server to SAVOs servers but are getting malformed or something and getting rejected.
