The way I do it is to forward as email to myself. There might be a more effective way to do it, but this is what I do!

This is a good way. The only time I was ever interested in doing this was to document somethin gfor legal purposes and it works great for that. The SMS shows up with the sender phone number as the "Sender", the first line as the subject, and the the complete text of the SMS message in the message body. It also shows the original time and date the SMS was sent. You can then print this an include it in court records etc. Very cool.

Sure... with the backup function, within your Desktop Manager,

You back up your source BlackBerry and then you restore only that part via the advanced function within backup/restore to the destination BlackBerry. This is only valid from BlackBerry to BlackBerry.

This applies to any information from the source BB device to the destination one.

Does the BB desktop manager also back up texts off the phone? So then i can get another phone and restore that one and get those messages put on the new phone?

If you want to move messages (or any other information) from the BB to a computer, the ABC Amber Blackberry Converter software will read the .ipd backup file and export the information in your choice of file formats.

Simply backup your BB using Desktop Manager. Use the ABC Converter to open the newly created .ipd backup file. You can then read, print, or export any of the information as you wish.
