Is this true? Will Bridging with playbook not work if the Os is only 4.5?

That is correct. The BlackBerry Bridge requires at least OS 5.0 on the BlackBerry phone.

8700 will not support OS5
Nor will the 8300, 8320, 8310.

8330 will run OS 5 but is buggy and the CPU is very slow compared to newer devices.

Best to get a newer phone with OS7 as they have a faster CPU 800 to 1.2 mhz

Most older OS 6 and 5 models have a 600 mhz cpu max

BOLD and TORCH models are the best CPU wise. Curves always have a slower CPU.
