Cool Parental Control

Please Login to Remove!

We have a BlackBerry 8330 and are trying to set our sons phone up so that it will shut off / disable at a certain time and them enable again at a later time. I know of the option to set the times the way we want them, but there is no password protection and our son can just turn it back on. Is there an option we are missing or an alternative can be locked with a password?

auto on/off will do the first.
the second, you need to set a device password.
(im not familiar with that device)
but somewhere like options - security or options - password.
should let you somewhere set a password for the device.

I would check with Verizon and see if their parental controls will work for BlackBerrys. They have great parental control options for regular cell phones.

What Midnightdraven said will work too.

How about take the device away at the given time?

Automation could be a bad thing. Imagine he is out somewhere lost and he cant use his phone because of a timer lock.

My phone has that timer set, and it auto locks on power on incase a room mate highjacks it in my sleep. Unlock it at the beginning of his day and you're golden!

Auto on/off will work only to a degree. I believe you can still turn it on if you need to. The feature was designed to be more of a convenience factor.

Well obviously... But if it locks on power up he can't use it regardless. The timer would end up being a force-lock on it...
